ANNA TURNBULL – STAFF GOVERNOR
I joined the teaching staff of St. Patrick's in 2010 and have worked across Early Years and Key Stage 1. I have taught in other schools, mostly within Durham County Council, where I have gained experience in working with children across the full primary age range. I have tutored children on a 1:1 basis to boost their confidence and skills in Literacy and Numeracy. Both my degree and my passion are in Early Years, where I am the lead practitioner in school. I attend regular training and network meetings and support staff working in the Reception class. I aim to bring my creative flair to the classroom and in extra-curriculum activities such as drama, art and singing. I have recently been given the role of leading Mathematics in school and am responsible for sharing with staff members the latest developments in this core subject and for ensuring good practice and progress are maintained and developed. Before teaching I was a Playworker for Gateshead Council and worked with young people with disabilities, supporting them to access a range of leisure activities. I am a qualified swimming and trampoline coach and have enjoyed being part of the sporting successes of many young people. I understand the importance of helping children develop socially, morally and physically, as well as academically. I became a staff governor in Autumn 2013 and aim to support the governing body in improving outcomes for the children of St. Patrick’s through my professional knowledge and understanding of the school, its pupils, staff and families.
